Mistral AI is exploring custom chip design, and may eventually manufacture its own chips to reduce inference costs and control more of its infrastructure.

For now, the company still relies on Nvidia, but it is pushing to build more independent AI compute capacity in Europe.

Mistral also announced a new inference-focused data center in France, lifting its infrastructure investment in France and Sweden to 4 billion euros.

The company launched Vibe, an enterprise AI agent platform for drafting, coding, and workflow automation, as it competes with OpenAI and Anthropic.
