AWS unveils new RNG network design for faster throughput

AWS introduced Random Network Graph, a new data center network design that replaces fat-tree layouts with a partly random cable map.

The system uses proprietary routing software and passive cabling hardware such as Spraypoint and ShuffleBox to improve traffic flow.

AWS says the architecture can raise throughput while reducing routers, fiber infrastructure, and energy use across data centers in Ireland, Germany, and Spain.
