YouTube adds AI feature for creating custom thumbnails for Shorts

YouTube has started supporting custom thumbnail uploads for eligible Shorts creators.

Creators can now change thumbnails retroactively and choose frames directly on desktop.

YouTube also added thumbnail generation to Ask Studio, its internal AI tool in YouTube Studio.

The update gives Shorts creators more control over branding, discoverability, and editing efficiency.
