Study Finds That Helping Friends Read Improves Children's Academic Achievement

A study of more than 100 primary schools in the UK found that the PALS paired reading method improved reading comprehension.

Having students read aloud to each other in pairs also boosted oral fluency and overall text understanding.

Children who took part showed an average gain of about two months in reading progress.

The findings suggest peer reading could be a useful school-based support tool for young students.
