Japan is in a league of its own when it comes to trains: it is upgrading its bullet train with 5G windows and noise-canceling cabins

JR Central will outfit upcoming premium Tokaido Shinkansen cabins with windows that embed 5G antennas and active noise-canceling technology from NTT.

The goal is to deliver more stable onboard connectivity and a quieter, more comfortable space for work or rest at high speed.

This is the first commercial deployment of the solution on a high-speed train, marking a notable upgrade for Japan’s bullet train experience.

The project aims to make the Shinkansen more competitive with air travel for business trips by improving both connectivity and comfort.
