Ukrainian firm Fire Point developing air-launched ballistic missile with 500+ mile reach

Fire Point announced it is developing an air-launched ballistic missile derived from its FP-9 platform, confirmed by chief designer Denis Shtilerman.

The ground-launched FP-9 is reported to have about a 500 mile (800 km) range, and engineers expect the air-launched variant to achieve substantially greater range.

The ALBM would be carried and released by combat aircraft to use more propellant for forward flight, and its profile allows launches from outside dense air-defense envelopes.

Fire Point has fielded FP-1 drones and Flamingo FP-5 cruise missiles and is also developing FP-7 and other FP-9 variants, while pursuing a low-cost air defense project.
