OpenAI launches new Codex tools for white-collar work

OpenAI expanded Codex beyond software engineering with six job-specific plugins for analytics, sales, design, finance, and other enterprise tasks.

It also launched Sites for publishing interactive work and Annotations for more precise document commands, making Codex more useful in workplace workflows.

OpenAI said Codex now has more than 5 million weekly active users, with adoption growing among knowledge workers.

The move signals a stronger push into enterprise AI and more direct competition with platforms like Anthropic, Wix, Replit, Lovable, and Figma.
