Microsoft buys North Holland land, applies for data center power

Microsoft bought 37.5 hectares of farmland in Middenmeer, North Holland, and has applied for a power connection.

The move points to possible future data center expansion near Agriport, where Microsoft already has a presence.

But any new project is far from certain because the regional grid is heavily congested and space is limited.

The land is still zoned for agriculture, so major infrastructure and zoning changes would be needed before construction can begin.
