US’ high-tech defense manufacturing that offers precision at large scale set to be accelerated

Oak Ridge National Laboratory and ARC signed an MOU to launch the Exascale Foundry, a secure system for faster defense manufacturing.

The partnership combines ORNL’s computing and materials expertise with ARC’s distributed production network to qualify and produce critical parts more quickly.

It will start with turbine components for autonomous air vehicle engines, using AI-enabled qualification and large-scale additive manufacturing.

The goal is to cut defense production and certification timelines from years to months and help ease U.S. supply chain bottlenecks.
