Anthropic Suddenly Cares About IP After Accidentally Leaking Claude’s Source Code

Anthropic issued a copyright takedown after Claude Code source files appeared online.

The company said no customer data or internal model weights were exposed.

The leak traced to a source map left in the Claude Code npm package 2.1.88, which led users to download and repost the code on GitHub.

Anthropic has previously used pirated book collections for model training and settled a related lawsuit for $1.5 billion.
