Nintendo will start charging more for physical Switch 2 games than digital copies

Nintendo announced that physical copies will be priced higher than digital versions, nintendo said this will begin in May for new Switch 2-exclusive first-party releases.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book identified a launch title and its prices, the game releases May 21 with the digital version priced at $60 and the physical version at $70 in Nintendo's online store.

Nintendo stated a reason for the price difference, company statement said the change reflects costs of producing and distributing physical formats.

Said retailers may set their own prices, nintendo noted retailers are free to charge what they want for physical and digital games.

Existing first-party physical games reported existing price ranges for previously released first-party physical games, previously released first-party physical Switch 2 games typically sold for $70 or $80.
