Seagate aims to launch 50TB HAMR hard drives in 2027

Seagate says its HAMR roadmap is on track for 50TB hard drives, with customer qualification targeted for late 2027 and wider rollout after validation.

Current Mozaic 4+ drives reach up to 44TB, while the upcoming Mozaic 5+ platform is expected to support the 50TB class.

The company says HAMR density gains will help it scale storage for AI and cloud customers without a proportional rise in manufacturing complexity.

Demand remains strong, with most nearline output already committed through 2028 and quarterly revenue rising sharply.
