Xbox expansion cards are now cheaper than SSDs, and PC users are repurposing them

A Reddit user repurposed an Xbox Storage Expansion Card for PC storage by using a CFexpress Type B reader and a PCIe slot.

The setup can deliver usable extra NVMe storage with speeds above SATA SSDs.

With SSD prices still elevated, some Xbox expansion cards are now cheaper than comparable new drives.

It’s a practical workaround for cheap extra storage, though still slower than high-end internal NVMe SSDs.
