Deepseek wants to take on Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex with "Deepseek Code"

Deepseek has posted openings for a product manager and developer to join a new Beijing-based “Harness” team.

The team is building “Deepseek Code,” a new code agent from scratch, with a focus on tool use, planning, memory, and developer workflows.

Candidates are expected to be heavy users of leading coding assistants and to work closely with model researchers on roadmap and feedback.

The move signals Deepseek’s push into the fast-growing AI coding tools market, where agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot are major rivals.
