US’ 100,000-ton nuclear-powered warship returns to fleet after 15-month overhaul

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower completed sea trials ahead of schedule after a 15-month Planned Incremental Availability at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Crews performed repairs, upgrades, and first-time inspections during the overhaul of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

The early return puts a fully mission-capable carrier back into the U.S. Navy fleet sooner than expected, helping ease readiness strain.

The Navy has not yet announced the ship’s next deployment.
