Wearable robotic exoskeleton helps musicians sync by touch

Researchers developed a wearable upper‑limb exoskeleton that provides real‑time haptic feedback between two musicians.

The device transmits force signals so each performer can physically sense a partner’s movements and adjust timing.

In tests with 20 violinist pairs, haptic feedback improved synchronization more than visual cues, and combined senses gave the best coordination.

The team said the system preserved expressiveness and could be applied to sports, dance, education, rehabilitation, and remote touch applications.
