Musk’s xAI is running nearly 50 gas turbines unchecked at its Mississippi data center

xAI is operating 46 natural gas turbines at its Mississippi data center, many on trailers and treated as mobile equipment by the state.

That classification has delayed air-pollution oversight, and xAI has permits for only some of the units.

The NAACP and the Southern Environmental Law Center have sued, saying the turbines violate federal law and worsen local air quality.

They are seeking an injunction, and the case could shape how temporary or trailer-mounted power plants are regulated.
