"PlayStation 2 Portable" debuts, a reverse-engineered PS2 packed into a custom motherboard, developed as an open-source project

Developer tschicki has open-sourced a custom PlayStation 2 Portable built around reverse-engineered original PS2 chips.

The handheld uses a new motherboard, modern controls, battery power, USB-C charging, and FPGA-based video processing.

Unlike emulation-based projects, it aims to preserve authentic PS2 hardware in a compact portable form.

Design files and software are published on GitHub, making it a rare fully documented retro console mod.
