The sovereign cloud can only be attained by US and China, says Gartner

Gartner says true sovereign cloud is currently only practical in the U.S. and China.

Most customers still lack a realistic exit strategy, leaving them tied to hyperscalers like AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

European providers are building alternatives, but they have not yet matched hyperscaler scale, features or ease of use.

The report highlights how hard digital sovereignty and cloud switching remain in practice.
