Ford has been slow to adapt to electric cars, so it will start making batteries for data centers

Ford launched Ford Energy, a new $2 billion division to pivot battery production from EVs to grid-scale storage.

Its Glendale, Kentucky plant will be retooled to make LFP cells and storage modules, with initial output expected within 18 months.

Ford aims to reach at least 20 GWh of annual production by late 2027 as AI-driven data center power demand surges.
