Google's Project Genie: You Can Now Base Imaginary Worlds on Real Places

Google expanded Project Genie with a feature that grounds AI-generated scenes in Google Maps Street View imagery.

Users can choose real-world locations and transform them into stylized environments like underwater or desert scenes.

The feature is currently limited to U.S. locations and is rolling out more broadly to Google AI Ultra subscribers.

The move links generative AI more closely to geographic data, creating a new use case for Google Maps imagery.
