Intel: Our upcoming AI chip will be cheaper, run cooler than Nvidia, AMD options

Intel will target AI inference with its upcoming Crescent Island GPU, not training workloads.

The chip is designed as a lower-cost option, using LPDDR5 memory and air cooling instead of expensive HBM setups.

Limited shipments are expected by the end of the year as Intel resets its AI strategy after Gaudi underperformed.

The move is meant to help Intel compete more directly with Nvidia and AMD in data center AI infrastructure.
