NASA has launched phase one of its lunar base plan, awarding hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to six companies.

The program covers 25 missions and 21 landings, with early flights targeted for 2026 and a phased buildup through 2032.

The work will support landing, mobility, and surface operations at the Moon’s south pole, a key step toward a sustained human presence.
