Kimi K3: White House alleges Fable 5 siphoning

A White House technology official accused Moonshot AI of secretly distilling outputs from Anthropic’s Fable 5 to train its new Kimi K3 model.

The official also suggested Moonshot may have used restricted Nvidia GB300 chips in Thailand, though the claims have not been publicly verified.

Moonshot AI, Anthropic, and the OSTP had not immediately commented.

The allegation could drive tighter U.S. API restrictions and export controls as model distillation becomes a flashpoint in U.S.-China AI competition.
