Epic Games is killing three popular Fortnite game modes after laying off 1,000 employees

Epic Games laid off over 1,000 employees, epic announced the layoffs in an internal statement and public communications.

Fortnite modes will be removed from the game, epic said three modes will be shut down on the schedules outlined.

Rocket Racing will be removed in October 2026 removal includes all UEFN islands with Rocket Racing templates.

Ballistic will be taken down on April 16, 2026, ballistic removal is scheduled as part of the 40.20 update.

Battle Stage (Festival) will stop being playable on April 16, 2026, festival quests will remain available until that date; the rest of Festival remains live.
