European Commission fines Google 890 million euros over alleged anti-competitive conduct and Digital Markets Act violations

The European Commission fined Google a total of €890 million for giving unfair preference to its own services in Search and Google Play.

It imposed €460 million related to Search and €430 million related to Google Play.

The EU also ordered Google to treat third-party services fairly and let app developers freely direct users to offers and contracts outside Google’s ecosystem.

Further penalties could follow if Google fails to comply with the Digital Markets Act.
