Nvidia is challenging 20 years of datacenter CPU design with new Vera chip

Nvidia revealed more details on Vera, its new datacenter CPU built around a custom Olympus core and a monolithic 88-core compute die.

The chip uses LPDDR5X memory and Spatial Multithreading, with Nvidia claiming higher performance and lower latency than conventional server CPUs.

Vera will ship in rack-scale and 2U systems, with Dell among the early partners, including PowerEdge platforms.

Nvidia is positioning Vera as a major opportunity in AI-agent workloads, aiming to pressure x86 incumbents like Xeon and Epyc.
