Apple brings encrypted RCS chats to iPhone

Apple has added beta support for end-to-end encrypted RCS chats in iOS 26.5.

In Messages, supported conversations now show a lock icon and work automatically with compatible carriers and updated Android clients.

The update improves privacy for iPhone-to-Android texting by limiting access to message content by carriers and platform providers.
