Google Pixel rolls out ‘Transit mode’ and real-time At a Glance commute

Google is rolling out Transit mode, introduced in the March 2026 Feature Drop.

At a Glance now provides real-time commute updates on the lockscreen and the top of the homescreen.

Transit mode appears in Settings > Modes alongside Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving; during transit you can set volume to Sound on, Vibrate only, or Silent, and Bluetooth can turn on automatically to pair headphones.

Tap Set up commute notifications at the bottom to enable commute alerts; the setup requires enabling Google Maps Timeline (Location history) and Precise Background location for the Maps app.

The features are widely rolling out on Android 16 QPR3 (March 2026) and Android 17 Beta in the US, and will be available globally for Pixel 7 and newer except in Europe and the UK.
