Congress moves to strip the DoC of chip-export discretion with the MATCH Act — DUV lithography machines among those targeted in chipmaking tool crackdown

Bipartisan U.S. lawmakers introduced the MATCH Act to tighten chipmaking equipment exports to China.

The bill would ban DUV lithography system exports, statutorily restrict five Chinese chip firms and affiliates, and limit servicing tied to those tools.

It would also give allies 150 days to adopt similar controls before the U.S. broadens restrictions on foreign-made semiconductor tools.

The proposal is still in committee and was revised to drop an earlier ban on cryogenic etch equipment.
