Vendor adds an extra 'memory fee' to each tech purchase amid the global chip crunch — the more you buy, the more you pay

Ubiquiti has started adding a variable memory surcharge at checkout on selected items in its own store.

Some products are being charged up to 5.8% extra to help offset rising memory and storage component costs.

The move reflects how the global memory shortage is directly pushing hardware prices higher.

It also shows vendors increasingly passing supply-chain cost spikes on to buyers.
