Google Drive adds built-in ransomware detection and file restoration for all users

Google announced a public rollout of ransomware detection and file restoration for Google Drive users.

The new AI detection recognizes infections 14 times more often than the beta, Google said.

When ransomware is detected, Drive pauses syncing, shows warnings, and can restore files to prior versions.

The protections are enabled by default and require Google Drive version 114 or later.
