Princeton spinout wins $20M to scale high-temp superconducting magnets for fusion tech

Thea Energy, a Princeton spinout, won a $20 million ARPA-E SCALEUP award.

The funding will expand manufacturing and testing of modular high-temperature superconducting magnets for stellarator fusion systems.

Thea says factory-built magnets could cut cost and complexity while improving plasma confinement.

The award also supports a stronger U.S. supply chain for key fusion hardware and domestic production.
