Android 17 to introduce "Pause Point," a feature that imposes a 10-second cooldown when launching distracting apps

Google is adding a new Android 17 digital well-being feature called Pause Point.

When users open selected distracting apps, Android will show prompts and a short cooling-off delay to encourage reconsideration.

The feature is meant to curb doomscrolling without fully blocking access to the apps.

It reflects Google's broader push for lighter-touch screen-time and habit-breaking tools.
