Hyper-V2X: Hypernetworks for Estimating Epistemic and Aleatoric Uncertainty in Cooperative Bird's-Eye-View Semantic Segmentation

Researchers introduced Hyper-V2X, a hypernetwork-based method for cooperative V2X bird’s-eye-view semantic segmentation.

It estimates both epistemic and aleatoric uncertainty, helping shared perception systems know when they are less confident.

The approach is compatible with existing V2X backbones such as CoBEVT and adds little compute overhead.

On the OPV2V benchmark, it produced better-calibrated uncertainty estimates, which could improve safety in autonomous driving.
