Pentagon pulls the plug on one of the military's most troubled space programs

The Pentagon has canceled OCX, the troubled ground control upgrade for military GPS, after years of delays, cost overruns, and failed testing.

OCX was meant to be a core system for managing the GPS network, but it never became suitable for military operations.

Its cancellation creates uncertainty around support for new satellite signals and the military’s secure navigation capabilities.

RTX had been developing the program, and the decision will affect Space Force GPS operations, including GPS III satellites.
