You can finally change the goofy Gmail address you chose years ago

Google now allows users to change their Google Account username while keeping existing emails and data intact.

After changing the username, the old address remains attached as an alternate and mail sent to it still arrives.

Some Google products and third-party services may continue to display the original email, and new addresses cannot be deleted.

Chromebook users must sign out and back in and Chrome Remote Desktop connections need to be re-added, but most issues resolve after a restart or a few hours.
