Docomo to begin supporting RCS from summer 2026

NTT Docomo will launch RCS in summer 2026, enabling texting plus photos, videos, stickers, and group chats using just a phone number.

RCS official accounts for business-to-customer messaging are planned for winter 2026.

The move could expand mobile messaging in Japan by offering a richer alternative to SMS.

The service may also strengthen interoperability across Android messaging and broader carrier ecosystems.
