New Ohio data center will generate all its own power through 350 MW microgrid

A planned AI data center campus in Ohio will run on its own 350 MW private microgrid instead of the regional grid.

Veolia will operate and maintain the system, which combines gas engines, linear generators, medium-voltage equipment, and 430 MWh of battery storage.

The setup is designed to support nonstop AI workloads and deliver 99.9% availability.

The project highlights a growing shift to private power systems to speed up AI infrastructure and reduce pressure on the public grid.
