Bethesda Issues Official Statement on The Elder Scrolls Amid Shutdown Rumors

Bethesda and ZeniMax Online confirmed that The Elder Scrolls Online remains in active development despite layoffs and shutdown rumors.

Game director Nick Giacomini said the team is committed to ESO’s future, while adjusting schedules after Xbox-related restructuring.

The Crimson Veldt trial, update 52, and the class and combat refresh have been pushed to early 2027, while new content is still planned for late 2026.

The update reassures players that ESO is not being shut down, even as studio layoffs reshape the game’s roadmap.
