Alibaba unveils 2.4 trillion-parameter 'Qwen 3.8-Max'... "Paddle 5-level performance"

Alibaba unveiled Qwen 3.8-Max, its largest open-weight AI model yet, with weights to be released next week.

The model is said to improve coding, terminal use, research, and multimodal tasks over previous generations.

Alibaba also highlighted an internal test where the model ran a software project autonomously for 16 days, handling commits, PRs, and issues.

Some benchmarks reportedly put Qwen 3.8-Max close to or ahead of Anthropic’s Fable 5, underscoring rising competition among top Chinese AI labs.
