Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced creative director explains why the modern-day scenes are gone

Ubisoft says the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake will remove the original game’s modern-day segments to better fit the series’ current Animus direction.

Instead, the remake will add rift content inspired by Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, along with other subtle upgrades.

Creative director Paul Fu said the old contemporary story would feel inconsistent with how Assassin’s Creed handles present-day elements now.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is set to launch on July 9, 2026.
