X increases the cost of link posting via API by 1,900%

On April 20, 2026, X raised the API fee for posting URLs from $0.01 to $0.20, a 20x increase.

It also stopped offering API access for follows, likes, and quote posts.

X said the move is intended to combat spam.

The change will sharply increase costs for API-based automation tools and external services such as news distribution.
