Model Flop Utilization is the metric Aria Networks says will define the AI infrastructure era

Aria Networks unveiled a “Network that Thinks” strategy for AI infrastructure centered on Model Flop Utilization (MFU).

The approach combines a hardened SONiC-based network OS, fine-grained telemetry, and AI agents to improve scheduling, cache transfers, and gradient synchronization.

CEO Mansour Karam said network performance is a high-leverage driver of AI cluster return, not just a support function.

If MFU gains traction as a benchmark, it could reshape how operators measure AI cluster efficiency, token costs, and data center design.
