Galaxy Z Flip 8 finally cares about cover screen apps, but just barely

Samsung has overhauled the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s FlexWindow cover screen with customizable panels, a widget-first home screen, an app drawer, Labs, and a Recents page.

Official cover-screen app support has grown to 50 apps, making the outer display far more useful for quick tasks and everyday use.

Some apps still remain buggy or incomplete, but the update marks a meaningful step toward real app use on Samsung’s foldables.

The change could raise expectations for future Galaxy Z Flip models and help Samsung close the gap with rivals like Google Pixel and Gemini-enabled experiences.
