Gamers compress 80TB map of Minecraft's oldest anarchy server down to a 15TB download — custom .zvcr compression format and 28 bots map 1 million blocks on infamous 2b2t server

Minecraft players spent 22 months using 28 bot accounts to map the full 2b2t server across the Overworld, Nether, and End.

They then packaged the archive in a custom .zvcr format, shrinking it from about 80TB to 15TB.

The project highlights how fan-led preservation can save massive online worlds, while exposing the storage and technical hurdles involved.
