Android smartphones gain spoofed call detection, with RCS-based verification to check whether the caller is really calling from the phone app

Google is adding fake-call detection to Android’s Phone by Google app using RCS-based verification.

The feature sends a silent check signal to the caller’s app; if there’s no response, the call is flagged as suspicious.

It aims to help detect spoofed calls and AI voice impersonation scams through app-to-app authentication.

Rollout starts on Pixel devices in June 2026, with a global launch planned for Android 12 and later.
