Here is NASA's plan for nuking Gateway and sending it to Mars

NASA announced a pause of Gateway work to focus on a lunar surface base announcement made on Tuesday.

Power and Propulsion Element is repurposing the Gateway core module for SR-1, pPE will be used for a nuclear-electric propulsion demonstration called SR-1 Freedom.

Will include the most powerful electric propulsion system ever flown, three 12-kilowatt engines and four 6-kilowatt thrusters.

SR-1 will carry a roughly 20-kilowatt fission reactor reactor power level stated as about 20 kilowatts.

NASA plans to launch SR-1 before the end of 2028, nASA stated the launch window as prior to end of 2028.
