Amazon's next Kindles may finally let you replace the battery yourself

Amazon’s latest Kindle firmware briefly included battery troubleshooting text and a battery replacement kit mention, hinting at user-replaceable batteries.

That would make Kindles easier to repair and could point to broader design changes driven by EU right-to-repair and battery rules.

But Amazon has since pulled firmware 5.19.4 and has not said why, so the battery support hint remains unconfirmed.
