Spotify expands AI remix and covers project with Merlin partnership

Spotify is adding Merlin to its upcoming AI remix and covers tool, giving the project access to more than 30,000 independent labels and distributors, alongside Universal Music Group.

The product will let approved artists opt in so fans can create AI-assisted covers and remixes with permission.

Spotify plans to launch it first as a limited preview and later as a paid add-on.

The deal broadens Spotify’s licensed AI music strategy, emphasizing artist consent, credit, and compensation.
